It is inevitable these days for many websites to acquire a backlink issue at some point. This may be because of historic bad SEO practices or it is because of an accumulation of spam from sites that have nothing better to do with their time!
We see it quite a lot these days. Sites scraping your content and then uploading it onto their domain with links back to your site. They are poor quality spammy sites that could lead to a dilution of your SEO efforts.
We have a meticulous process for cleaning your backlink profile that we have perfected over the years.
If your site has been penalised or has a significant backlink issue then recovery could be difficult. This process does not come with any guarantees despite the hours we will spend on cleaning up those backlinks.
We follow a simple process but success depends on the people we are communicating with.
We use a powerful tool to crawl all of your backlinks. Once we have a sizeable crawl we then go through each one manually and assign one of five labels to it:
The good backlinks we keep. The ones we need to investigate or disavow go into the next process. The poor quality but ok we keep for now. The ones with a technical issue we write to and try to get the issue corrected. The next process is to write or contact every website owner that contains a spammy link. We will ask them to remove them. They are asked again 7 days from the first contact.
If they are not removed or we receive no reply then we upload them to Google’s tool and tell them the site is poor quality/spammy. At this point we will also add them to a disavow file.
Disavow files are hit and miss with many thinking Google pays little attention to them. But it is still considered best practice. The best means of cleaning up your backlink profile is the manual removal but this will not always work. The best approach is to contact them and keep contacting them until the links are removed. Where that isn’t possible then we have done all we can.
If enough are removed you will see a positive outcome and that is what we drive towards with this package. This is one of our most cost-effective packages given the amount of time we spend contacting each site.
